"Last Embers" -- "Kingdom Hearts II" -- Axel/Roxas

Title: “Last Embers”
Pairing: AkuRoku
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Rating: T for now, but M in the future
Disclaimer: If I owned the characters I would not be living-off-of $19 for the next week-and-a-half...
Summery: One last time together before Roxas joins with Sora.
Notes: A idea that has been floating around in my head since I started playing KHII. I am dividing it into 2 parts. The first part could be a stand-alone one-shot. I need to finish the 2nd part -__-;

“I’m so FLATTERED!” a shakey wave of his hand. "But your too late!" Axel lunged at Roxas with both of his chakrams ablaze. This fight was to be no-holds-bared. Roxas having remembered everything knew that look in his best-friend’s eyes; ‘ether you’re with me or get out of my way!’. Oblivion & Oathkeeper appeared at The Key of Destiny’s sides, it being the first time in awhile that they themselves had been summoned.

Two!?” hissed Axel as he fully realized just how much the blond had remembered. This fight was going to be nothing like the one they had in The Sandlot. Flaming-metal hit both of Roxas’ Keyblades as the boy blocked and prepared to counter.

Their eyes met.

“...Axel...” Roxas gasped out as his body was hit with a feeling much like anguish. The whole reality that this was going to be the last time he would be able to see Axel hit him right where his heart didn’t reside. A look of shock crossed Axel’s face for a brief moment before he leap back and flung one of his weapons right at his best-friend. Snapping out of his thoughts Roxas dodged and darted along the edge of the flames--singeing his right sleeve. His Keyblades were at his sides, but something about how his arms were set meant that he wasn’t in a fighting-stance. Axel spun around trying to keep a eye on Roxas. Making a jump Roxas caught Number Eight off guard and latched his arms around him from behind.

“Please Axel...” Roxas muttered as he held-on --feet dangling.

“...Roxas...” Axel softened his limbs and kneeled-down so Roxas’ feet touched the ground. “What are you getting at?”

“I...want one...last...time, Axel.” Number Thirteen held completely still until a ragged sigh finished-off his sentence.

“Is that the truth Rox?” Axel still wasn’t fully convinced seeing as Roxas was still a Nobody and Nobodies were ingrained to be liars.

Roxas let-go and stumbled to face his best-friend. “Yes.” acid-burning sky-blue eyes met emerald. “Yes.” the boy wrapped his arms around The Flurry of Dancing Flames letting his Keyblades fall to the ground and disappear. Another ragged-sigh shaking his exhausted body.

“Roxas...” Axel let-out a breath he had been holding, inhaling the smell of the blond’s hair. He leaned back and raised his hand to the side of Roxas’ head, letting his gloved hands entwine in his hair. Their eyes met again and Axel brought his face down to kiss the boy’s slightly parted lips.

It felt like ages since their last meeting as semi-lovers, and the desperation that came with the situation caused the passion to flare just like the encircling flames.
